Abstract / samenvatting in Nederlands:

Abstract / summary in English:

In 2012 and 2013 we conducted field tests to compare the crop performance of various strains of white and blue lupin on calcium-rich soils in the Netherlands. The white lupin strains came from two breeders in the Netherlands and Denmark, while the blue lupin varieties were obtained from seed companies in Denmark, Germany and Poland. Crops were compared in terms of yield, earliness of flowering and maturation, number of branching levels (number of flowers per plant), symptoms of calcium-induced chlorosis, leaf health, plant height, soil cover, and vulnerability to lodging. The results and conclusions from these field tests are presented in this report.
